N12BN FRAUD: WORKERS DEMAND SACK, PROBE OF PDP NWC

Fresh crisis is brewing in the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party following demand by the workers for the sack of the National Working Committee over alleged N12 billion financial impropriety and maladministration. Addressing a press conference at the party secretariat Abuja, the leaders of the PDP Staff Welfare Committee led by Ngozi Nzeh and Dan Ochu-Baiye, Chairman and Secretary, respectively, claimed that the NWC members squandered over N12 billion. They equally alleged that it high-level of corruption, greed and sabotage that led to the woeful performance of the party during the last general elections. Man butchers friend in Uyo over N750, 000 debt

Police in Akwa Ibom State has arrested one Stephen Ononna for the gruesome murder of his friend, Mr. Daniel Bassey, over an alleged debt of N750,000. Ononna, from Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, is a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and has been living in Akwa Ibom for over two years working for Africana FEP Publishers while his deceased friend, Bassey, was a professional barber in Uyo and hailed from Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom. Briefing newsmen on the matter in Uyo yesterday, state Police Commissioner, Mr Gabriel Achong explained that the suspect was arrested after police trailed him following a tip off from people who know him. Achong explained that the suspect had after killing the deceased with a machete in his house, cut his body into six parts and hid them in different locations. “He kept the head separate, the two hands separate, the two legs separate; the private part was also kept separate and the main body was also kept separate.

Looting of containers: Importer seeks N200m restitution from Customs

An importer, Messrs Elopetx Resources Limited, has petitioned the Comptroller-General, CG, of Customs, Dikko Abdullahi, over the alleged looting of three of its fully loaded containers containing glass beer mugs at the Ikorodu Lighter Terminal, Ikorodu, Lagos State. The importer, who petitioned the CG through its lawyer, Barrister Okwudili Alagbu, is seeking N200 million restitution for the containers looted while undergoing overtime clearance at the lighter terminal. Okwudili said his client was holding Customs responsible because the containers were still under the control and supervision of the Ikorodu Customs when the looting was perpetuated. According to the petitioner, the container numbers of the three 40 feet looted containers filled with glass mug were, TRLU8190033, TCLU5464240 and TGHU8550660.
