Chairman,
Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof Itse Sagay (SAN) has
urged President Muhammadu Buhari to approve the recommendations of the Osinbajo
panel for the sack of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,
Babachir Lawal and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency(NIA),
Ayo Oke.
He said the recommendations of the panel
headed by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo did not come to him as a
surprise.
The presidential panel that investigated the
duo which submitted its report to President Muhammadu Buhari this week
recommended that the duo should be replaced.
Sagay described the vice president as a very
strict and upright man of God who does not condone corruption.
He said: “ I am not surprised with his
recommendations which I fully support. That is the right thing to do because this
is a government whose whole reputation is based on the fight against
corruption. So, there is no way it can harbour corruption within its own
compound and still enjoy credibility.”
He said what the vice president has done,
legally and morally is the right thing and expressed hope the president would
now implement it as recommended.
