Buhari to support police, as Lagos donates N4.8bn equipment

President Muhammadu Buhari said yesterday that priority will be given to the recruitment, training, equipping, logistics and welfare of the Nigeria Police Force in line with international best practices. He stated this at the inauguration and handing-over of security equipment worth N4.8 billion by the Lagos State government to the state police command at Lagos House, Ikeja.
Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau (rtd), commended the efforts of the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration in supporting security operatives in the state.
“On our part, the federal government will continue to support and strengthen our security agencies to discharge their responsibilities optimally. Our vision is to ensure that the security forces are given the best we can offer,” he said.
The president urged Nigerian youths to shun acts that are inimical to peace and stability, while calling on other state governments to emulate Lagos in supporting the police to perform their statutory responsibilities.
