Kano: 20 killed in suicide bomb attack on Shi’ite procession
At least 20 people,
including women and children, were killed and more than 50 injured yesterday in
Dakasoye village of Kura local government area of Kano State
when a suicide bomber blew himself up after joining a Shi’ite procession. This
is less than two weeks after two female suicide bombers struck at a mobile
phone market in the city, killing over 20 people.
The sect’s spokesman, Ibrahim Usman, told Daily Trust by phone that another would-be suicide bomber, Muhammad Aminu, was apprehended in Kura town few kilometers from where the attack took place, before he could detonate the bomb strapped around his body.
“Aminu was apprehended by our members and he confessed that two of them were sent to kill us with bombs during the procession. It was while we were searching him that the second bomber detonated the bomb inside the crowd, killing himself and over20 others, including children and women,” Usman said.
