Reps Summon CBN Governor Over BVN Disclosure

.. .Unregistered Sim Cards: Reps Investigates NCC, Telecom Operators
House of Representatives yesterday summoned the Central Bank Governor (CBN) Mr. Godwin Emefiele to appear before its committee on Banking and Currency to explain to it why there is a directive by the CBN for Nigerians to disclose their Bank Verification Number (BVN) to every Bureau de Change upon transaction.
This resolution by the House followed a motion entitled “motion against proliferation of Bank Verification Numbers” raised as an urgent matter of public importance and sponsored by Hon. Dan- buram Nuhu.
He noted that the effort of the CBN to stabilise foreign exchange market by making it compulsory for all Bureau de Change to have the BVN of all customers in the bid to stem money laundering will make financial records easily accessible to dubious people.
