Senate queries N3.4bn local transport budget by PSC
Chairman of Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim yesterday expressed shock over the budget of Police Service Commission, PSC and asked the commission to adjust it.
Senator Ibrahim (APC Katsina South), who specifically sought explanation on the N3.4billion earmarked for local transport by the PSC during budget defence of the commission, told the chairman, Mr. Mike Okiro, “go back and justify your budget”.
Okiro had earlier informed the senate committee members that the sum of N3.4billion was earmarked for local transportation of his 402 staff in this year’s budget.
He said the money, if approved, would be used by the 402 staff of the commission to monitor the activities of the Police across the country.
Okiro, a former Inspector General of Police,added that N223million has been budgeted for advertisement in newspapers and that the commission has also earmarked N260million for the purchase of vehicles.
