Wike looted over 100bn as Minister of Education – APC Alleges
The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has alleged that the monumental fraud perpetrated by the state Governor, Nyesom Wike when he was the Minister of Education far outweighs the much-publicised $2.1 billion arms loot by former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
The allegation was contained in a
statement signed by the party’s state Chairman, Davis Ikanya in Port Harcourt,
the state capital yesterday.
The party made the allegation in
line with claims of fraudulent transactions levelled against Wike by the
Peoples Coalition Against Corruption, PCAC.
PCAC had alleged that the state
governor diverted funds from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, for
private use, swindled the Universal Basic Education Fund of more than N100bn,
and also mismanaged over N20 billion of the ministry of education budgets in
the four years that he was in charge of the ministry. Wike has, however, denied
this.
But in the statement, Ikanya,
described PCAC’s revelations as “a tip of the iceberg,” as Wike did committed much more fraud.
The statement reads, “Based on what
we know of Chief Wike’s activities in government in the past few years, we make
bold to say that these revelations by the Peoples Coalition Against Corruption
represent a small fraction of Wike’s corrupt acts,”
“As a matter of fact, Wikegate, if
we may call it that, will make Dasukigate look like a child’s play when the
full details are made known.”
