Anti-corruption war: Reps reject plea-bargain for culprits

The member representing Akure North/South Federal Constituency, Olowookere Ajisafe, has pledged the support and cooperation of the eighth National Assembly to President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign, stressing that the time to repair Nigeria has come.
Ajisafe disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said President Buhari should ensure that his campaign is holistic and devoid of sacred cows, urging him to as a matter of expediency support the lawmakers in reforming the extant laws that will assist him fast-track their implementation.
The lawmaker, who condemned the current level of poverty in the country, said all those that looted the treasury must be made to return the money, advising the federal government not to accept plea-bargain in place of the huge funds stolen by few individuals.
“I feel strongly that the eighth Assembly should support President Buhari in this anti-corruption war. But I also feel that Mr. President should also support us in reforming our extant laws, because there are certain areas of lacuna that make implementation difficult.
