Ekiti govt plans education summit to address poor performance

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has disclosed that the state will hold its education summit in September, to address the abysmal performance of students in public examinations.
He also called on politicians to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and tolerance so that Ekiti can be peaceful.
Fayose made the remarks in Ado Ekiti yesterday at the swearing-in of the new Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers and Ologotun of Ogotun Ekiti, Oba Oladapo Oyebade.
Oba Oyebade took over from the Onitaji of Itaji Ekiti, Oba Adamo Babalola, who presided over the council for a period of two years.
Fayose, who lamented the decadence that had hit the state’s education sector, also appointed the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Ademola Ajakaye, Chairman of the summit, which would map out strategies to reverse the decline.
“When I came in 2003, I organised an education summit where experts in the education sector came with strategies that really worked. The current situation is very bad. It calls for concern,” he said.
