Yobe Governor, Gaidam, Presents 2016 Budget Estimate

Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, on Thursday, December 31 2015, presented 2016 budget estimate of N88, 932,740,000 to the State House of Assembly.
Making the presentation before Yobe State House of Assembly, Governor Gaidam disclosed that they have decided to tag the 2016 Budget as ‘Result Based Budget for Consolidation, Reconstruction and Self-Reliance’.
Gaidam while giving the breakdown of the Budget, hinted that N88, 932,740,000 represents increase of N8, 932,740,000 or 10 percent above that of the outgoing Year. “Our decision to increase our Budget proposal is to enable us get more funds to execute more projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the Citizens.”
He explained that other areas that will be given serious attention includes avoidance of unnecessary expendictures and watye by all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), plugging of revenue leakages, checking corruption, as well as prioritizing the development needs of the People of the State.
According to him the Budget would be executed with funds to be generated from sources as follows; Internally Generated Revenue N3,590,102,000 Statutory Allocation N38,500,416,000 Statutory Allocation (SURE-P), Value Added Tax (VAT) N1,000,000,000 Ecological Fund, Stabilization Fund and Excess Crude Oil N3,386,457,000
Other receipts include; Grants N2,105,000,000 External Loans N490,000,000 Internal Loans N27,235,982,000 Miscellaneous N3,500,000,000 and Treasury Opening Balance N690,000,000 giving a total recurrent revenue of N54,911,758,000 and Total Capital Receipt N34,020,982,000
been committed to the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance for necessary actions.
