Buhari’s Govt deep in human rights abuses – Rep

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development, Hon. Segun Adekola, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s government of deeply entrenched in human rights abuses.

The lawmaker, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, representing Ekiti South Federal constituency I, said that the N6.08 trillion budgetary proposal presented by Buhari would be difficult to fund, saying the dwindling oil revenue cannot sustain this staggering amount.
Adekola, while speaking in Ikere Ekiti yesterday, during an empowerment programme for 500 people in his constituency and flagging off of a skills acquisition programme, Adekola scored Buhari zero in human rights protection.
Adekola, who distributed Sewing Machine, Grinding Machine, Generator worth millions of naira, said the empowerment became imperative as a fulfillment of his electioneering campaign and way to reduce unemployment ravaging every stratum of the country.
He said the alleged selective way Buhari has been prosecuting his anti-corruption war , culminating in the arrest and detention of many PDP chieftains who served under ex-president Goodluck Jonathan attested to the level of human rights abuses being perpetrated under his government.
“You can see how opposition figures were being arrested. Sambo Dasuki, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Attahiru Bafarawa and many others were members of the PDP. Is President Buhari telling Nigerians that no APC Ex-governors stole during his time?
“So, President Buhari scores zero in human rights protection. For him
to show that he is serious with the anti-graft war, he should arrest people like ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi and many other APC chieftains having cases to answer”, he said.
