How Buhari ended APC crisis – Odiegie-Oyegun
Contrary to
the earlier promise of President Muhammadu Buhari not to interfere in the
affairs of the National Assembly, the national chairman of the All Progressives
Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has revealed how the president’s last
minute intervention helped to resolve the lingering crisis in the National
Assembly.
Chief Odigie-Oyegun who spoke to journalists at the party’s National
Secretariat in Abuja said the presidential intervention was what actually saved
the day.
According to the national chairman, “the misunderstanding in the House has been resolved. Thanks to the President who said no alternative but for everybody to listen to the party. He still did not interfere. His parting word was that the party and the leadership of the House should go and resolve.
“One can say that presidential prestige came to play and that counted a lot. I don’t want to elaborate; and he emphazised and that the party is number one and that everyone owes everything to the party.”
The party chairman who explained why President Buhari is limiting his probe to the Jonathan’s administration, said that four years may not be enough to probe the entire government of the PDP.
On the allegation that the party is responsible for the questioning of Saraki’s wife by the EFCC, he denied that the party was involved in the travails of the senate president and his wife.
