Sultan declares today as Eid-il-Fitr

The Sultan of Sokoto and President of Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, N‎SCIA, His eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III yesterday announced the sighting of the moon to usher in the new islamic month of Shawwal and signaling the end of Ramadan.
In a press briefing at his palace, the Sultan stated that the moon was sight in Sokoto, Yobe , Kano states and other parts of the country, declaring today July 17, 2015 as first of Shawwal and Eid-il-Fitr 1436 A.H
The Sultan urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for peace and development of the country adding: “we should continue to reflect on the lessons of ‎Ramadan, pray our leaders at all levels for peace and development of the country.
Muslims in the country will join their counterpart all over the world to offer a two-rakah supperogatory prayers at various praying ground today to mark the end of 29-day Ramadan fast which began ‎June 18, 201
