Nigeria and China
are to deepen their partnerships in the area of space science technology aimed
at bridging the technological gaps and creating jobs in Nigeria.
Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, who disclosed this on
Tuesday at a media parley in Abuja, explained
that Nigeria’s
partnership with China was
one of the major outcomes of his recent visits to China and Indonesia.
Onu also explained Nigeria
and China have had long
standing relationship in the area of space science, adding that the
relationship would be re-invigorated and re-strengthened in the bid to
diversify Nigeria’s
economy and create jobs for the citizenry.
He noted that China,
which is the second largest economy in the world today, attained this feat as a
result of their deployment of science, technology and innovation.
He said the Republic of China would build Ground Receiving Station in Nigeria,
adding that the benefits of his visit to China and Indonesia would be witnessed
in the next three or four years.
Onu revealed that the Chinese Minister of Science and Technology would soon
reciprocate the visit to Nigeria,
to cement the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.
